HOLLAND-The Alpena ThunderCats 16U softball team won the Holland Summer Lakeside Blast Tournament, outscoring its opponents 55-11 while winning all seven of its tournament games.
Alpena had the best scoring and best run differential marks for the tournament and put together a string of wins with solid defense and relentless hitting. Alpena had two home runs on the day-Logan Fleming had an inside the park home run and Brenna Bourdage had a three-run shot in the championship game, a 10-3 win over the Utica Crush.
Anna Couture led Alpena in the title game, going 3-for-4 at the plate. Corinn Gehrke allowed seven hits and fanned seven.

Alpena's other wins for the tournament included: a 7-0 win over the Adrenaline Orange; a 6-0 win over the McHenry Meteors Orange; a 5-2 win over the Lookouts; a 13-0 win over the Grand Rapids Diamonds; a 7-2 win over the Klash White; and a 7-4 win over Total Chaos.
On the mound, Corinn Gerhke pitched three games with 15 strikeouts and one no-hitter. Ashley Meyers pitched four games with 14 strikeouts, including a stretch of three straight games.
