On April 15, 2012, our daughter had a liver transplant at Scripps Green Hospital in San Diego, Calif. She had been waiting for a liver for some time but now the situation was dire as her other organs were beginning to fail. We are happy that the operation was a success and on the road to recovery although she is not out of the woods.
For some time we had known of the failing liver and were prepared as far as possible for her passing, but what of the Donor's family. They had no time to prepare for their loss. And here-in is the sad part, a sadness that I cannot help but feel. I wish that we could relieve the heartache and feel a kinship in their suffering. We may never know the Donor's family but we will keep them in our hearts and prayers.
