TRAVERSE CITY-The Alpena girls soccer team's season came to an end on Thursday after the Wildcats lost 5-1 to Traverse City West in a district game.
Alpena (6-13) trailed just 1-0 at halftime, but couldn't keep up with the Titans, who tacked on four more goals.
"The physical aspect of the game caught up with us in the second half," Alpena coach Tim Storch said.
Eight seniors played their last game for Alpena and Storch praised their efforts in helping the program build a foundation.
"I couldn't be happier with the effort, intensity and passion we brought to the field (tonight)," Storch said. "I told the eight seniors that their legacy was leaving the footprints for a program on the rise."
