Posen, Rogers City, Hillman softball post predistrict wins

GAYLORD- The Posen softball team beat Atlanta 17-2 in four innings in a pre-district game Tuesday.

Ashley Meyers was the winning pitcher, giving up two hits, two walks and striking out twelve.

Meyers went 3-for-3 with a double, triple, and three RBIs; Emily Delekta went 3-for-3 with four RBIs; Anna Couture went 3-for-3 with a double and a triple; Abbie Delekta went 2-for-2 with a double; and Taylor Chojnacki went 2-for-2 and hit her first career home run, a three-run shot.

Posen was up 1-0 in the bottom of the first and scored nine runs total before Atlanta ended the inning.

Meyers struck out Atlanta's first nine batters.

Posen is now 26-8 and will face Johannesburg-Lewiston on Saturday at noon.

Rogers City 10,

Inland Lakes 3

ROGERS CITY The Rogers City softball team beat Inland Lakes 10-3 in its Division 4 predistrict game on Tuesday.

Melissa Pomranke was the winning pitcher, pitching the first two innings and giving up no runs on three hits while striking out three. Nikki Radke pitched three innings, giving up three runs on three hits and striking out one.

Logan Fleming had three hits, a double, a triple, and two RBIs; Courtney Streich had three hits, a double, and two RBIs; Nikkie LaLonde had four hits, a double, and two RBIs; Rebecca Meredith had two hits; Brenna Hincka had a hit; Brooklyn Idalski had two hits; Linnea Brege had a hit and an RBI; and Cassie Brege had two hits, both triples.

Rogers City will play Harbor Light on Saturday in Rogers City.

Hillman 16,

Wolverine 0

GAYLORD- The Hillman softball team beat Wolverine 16-0 in three innings on Tuesday night in a predistrict game.

Jensen Tchorzynski threw a no hitter for the Tigers.

Amanda Kennard had a double and two RBIs; Alissa Clink went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs; Carissa Herrick went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs; Audrey Julka went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs; and Taylor Crawford went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.


Alcona 5,

Arenac Eastern 0

MIO The Alcona baseball team beat Arenac Eastern 5-0 on Tuesday.

Joel Hudgens was the winning pitcher, pitching the first five innings. Hudgins gave up five hits, no walks, and struck out two. Cody Franklin pitched the final two innings, giving up no walks, no hits and striking out five.

Franklin had two hits and a double; Nathan Fettes had two hits; and Kevin Pagels and Robbie McGuire each had a triple.

Alcona will face Hale in Mio on Friday.

Hillman 13,

Wolverine 1

GAYLORD- Hillman beat Wolverine 13-1 Tuesday in a predistrict game.

Ty Jones threw a no hitter for the Tigers, striking out twelve batters.

Jordan VanPamel went 4-for-4 with two RBIs; Jones went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and Michael Klien went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, including a steal of home.

Rogers City 12, Inland Lakes 3

ROGERS CITY The Rogers City baseball team won its predistrict game against Inland Lakes on Tuesday by a score of 12-3.

Chad Karsten pitched seven innings, earning the win. Karsten gave up three runs on two hits while striking out ten.

Alex Andrzejewski went 3-for-4; Austin Brege went 2-for-3 and Karsten went 3-for-5 and hit a home run.

Rogers City will host Harbor Light on Saturday.

Atlanta 5, Posen 2

GAYLORD- The Posen baseball team was beat by Atlanta 5-2 Tuesday night to end its season.

Nathan Lenard ended the season with a record of 8-4. Lenard pitched six innings, giving up one earned run, two walks, and struck out eleven.

Lenard went 2-for-3 and Travis Sharpe went 1-for-2 with two RBIs.

Posen ends its season with a record of 15-9-3 overall, 8-3-3 in the North Star League, taking second in the league.
