ACC continues road slate; Piper named team’s golfer of the week

April 15, 2012
The Alpena News

Kole Piper is the ACC golfer of the week. The 2010 Alpena High graduate has been leading the Lumberjacks with his long iron play as well as the short chipping game. Piper was one of the integral players in ACC's tie against a red-hot Kirtland team on Sunday at the Grayling Country Club. Austin Johnson and Piper hit shots on the final hole onto the green, then nailed their putts. They were followed by Justin MacGregor, who powered a 160-yard shot to the final game to force the tie. MacGregor was the medalist for the day for ACC with a 44-40 -84, followed by Johnson, Piper and Eric Orstrander.

ACC also finished 10th at the Oakland Classic on Friday, with Pete Swiatek claimed top honors for ACC, followed by Johnson, Tyler Kirkwood, Piper and MacGregor.
