GRAND BLANC - In a game where all five runs were scored in the first three innings, Imlay City edged Alpena 3-2 in the championship game of the Grand Blanc Invitational softball tournament on Saturday.
Freshman Alex Peters threw a complete game for Alpena (2-2), but suffered the loss. Peters tried to help her cause with a home run for the Wildcats, one of five Alpena hits.
The Wildcats started the tournament by pounding Ortonville-Brandon 15-0.
Alpena played a flawless game, with no errors on the field to go with strong pitching from Laura Lewis and big bats.
