Charles (Gill) and Pauline (Betsy) Baker of Alpena and Bradenton, Fla. will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on March 17, 2012 with a small dinner party with their children and close friends at the clubhouse in their retirement village in Florida. In July, they plan to renew their vows at the church where they were married. Most of their original bridesmaids and groomsmen will also be taking part.
The couple's children are Kathy (Baker) and Steve Bidinger from Pasadena, Md.; Krysti (Baker) and Jim Bland of Alpena and Brevard, N.C.; and Dorothy (Baker) and Mike Oppenheiser of Fenton. In addition to their children, they have seven grandchildren.
Mr. Baker and the former Pauline Lau were married March 17, 1962 at Court Street Methodist Church in Flint. Charles is retired from the City of Flint and moved to own and manage a motel in Alpena. Pauline retired from nursing in various departments at McLaren General Hospital. Together they ran a motel in Alpena for over 20 additional years before officially retiring in 2011. They split their home life from Alpena and Bradenton Fla.
