Pennies for Paige

February 15, 2012
The Alpena News

Donations are being accepted at The Alpena News office for the infant daughter of Chris and Chelsea Engle.

Baby Paige Engle was born five weeks premature on Jan. 19 in Petoskey. Since then it was determined she is suffering from heart failure and will require extensive medical attention. She was transferred to Munson Hospital in Traverse City and was later flighted to Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor, where she currently remains hospitalized.

Paige underwent surgery last week and will require open heart surgery later this year. Her parents are 2002 graduates of Alpena High School.

Chris, a reporter and outdoor columnist with the Gaylord Herald Times, is the son of Deb Paterra and James Engle, both of Alpena. Chelsea, a nurse, is the daughter of Mark and Lori Werda, also of Alpena.

A fundraiser will be planned later this summer in Gaylord to help the Engles with all the medical and travel expenses they are incurring. Anyone who would like to donate now to Pennies for Paige to help the family through this difficult time may stop by The Alpena News during business hours.

Cards may be sent to the family at: Chris and Chelsea Engle, 10th floor, PICU, Mott Children's Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI 48109.
