Lisa Kay Remaklus and Mark Robert Currier exchanged their wedding vows Dec. 28, 2011 at 4 p.m. in Alpena.
The bride is the daughter of Larry and Susan Remaklus of Norfolk, Va. The groom is the son of Dr. Robert Currier and Linda Currier of Alpena.
The wedding was attended by immediate family. Kevin Currier, brother of the groom, served as best man. Laura Currier, sister of the groom, served as maid of honor. An intimate reception was held at the home of the groom's mother.
Lisa graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School in Norfolk, Va. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Virginia Tech, a Master of Science from Old Dominion University and a Doctor of Medicine from Eastern Virginia Medical School. She completed a pediatric residency at Phoenix Children's Hospital and is currently employed as a pediatric hospitalist at Vail Valley Medical Center in Vail, Colo.
Mark is a graduate of Alpena High School and a graduate of Albion College with a degree in Business and Political Science. After moving to Vail, Colo., Mark began volunteering at the Greater Eagle Fire Department and eventually became employed as a full time firefighter. He also worked part time as an EMT for the Western Eagle County Ambulance District.
Mark and Lisa met as neighbors in Vail, Colo. Mark recently resigned from his job as a Colorado firefighter and EMT to join the U.S. Coast Guard. He entered U.S. Coast Guard Officer Candidate School on Jan. 5 and will graduate May 2. Lisa has returned to her job as a pediatric hospitalist in Vail, Colo., and will join her husband once he receives his orders to his first duty station.
