Editorial: Salvation Army holiday numbers reveal residents making a difference

January 6, 2012
The Alpena News

Remember the red kettles from last month?

Do you ever wonder just how much of a difference your giving can make?

Are you a numbers person?

Here are the holiday numbers released this week by Major Craig Stoker of the Salvation Army in Alpena.

"The Salvation Army assists needy individuals and families with much more than Christmas assistance," Stoker reminds us. Throughout the year "we help with emergency utilities, rent, transportation, food, prescriptions and a variety of other needs."

Not that we need it, but it certainly is nice to see an accounting of your contributions over the past month.

Northeast Michigan residents helped to make a difference for their neighbors.

Thank you.
