Optimist Club of Rogers City honors two

The Optimist Club of Rogers City recently honored two local students as Students of the Month for December. They included Mary Brege and Christopher Wilk.

Brege is the daughter of Scott and Shannon Brege of 3302 Grove Rd., Rogers City. She is a seventh grader who is seen as an uplifting and positive personality at her school. She is always adding to the class conversation and makes sure to let her teacher know when the class needs to discuss a math concept or a scientific theory a little more for it to make sense.

Outside of the classroom, Brege is a part of the band and the volleyball team.

Christopher Wilk and Mary Brege were recently named Students of the Month for December by the Optimist Club of Rogers City.

Wilk is the son of Clifford and Jackie Wilk of 10718 S. Rogers Rd., Posen. A 10th grader, he demonstrates excellence in academic and extra-curricular activities. He currently has a 3.95 GPA and has earned a certificate and bronze academic awards. His goal is to graduate with the Academic Honors Diploma.

Wilk currently is involved in Key Club, D-13, marching and concert band. He was selected to participate in the Honors Band program and has performed with the Rogers City Band for the past two years. He serves on the NEMYAC council and participated in the Josten's Renaissance program this fall.

Outside of school, Wilk is an active member in his church and youth group. He is also involved in the community with a number of community service projects.

Wilk is considered a polite, well-mannered and kind young man. He demonstrates excellent citizenship and is well respected by his teacher and peers. He is always willing to go the extra mile to get things done and his very generous in his donations to help others.
