The Lions Old Newsboys are at it again today and tomorrow, taking to the streets of Alpena and peddling the 2011 edition of the satirical news sheet.
It's the hope of Alpena News employees and Lions Club members, who team together on this ever popular Northeast Michigan holiday treat, to raise a significant amount of money this weekend to aid Salvation Army Red Kettle efforts.
The need is great, the lines are long, and collections are lagging this Christmas season. What better way to make a difference in those numbers than to make a donation to the Old Newsboys efforts and receive a newspaper in exchange.
This holiday classic tradition is once again being spearheaded by Lions Old Newsboys Reporter R.U. Cerius. For 81 years ol' R.U. has taken out his trustworthy typewriter and hammered out yet another hilarious look at events around us.
Obviously we're prejudiced, but having had a sneak peek at this year's edition, literally hot off the press, we're sure residents will find R.U.'s offering another Pulitzer Prize-worthy effort.
When you see a Lions member peddling the Old Newsboys edition today or Saturday, please consider making a contribution.
