No new bids for airport service

December 6, 2011
The Alpena News

The United States Department of Transportation did not receive any responses in the most recent request for proposal for air service at the Alpena County Regional Airport.

According to Bill Mosley, public affairs specialist for the DOT, the department will take some time to examine the situation and decide how best to move forward. He said Delta in turn must continue to provide service in Alpena until a resolution to the matter is found.

"There is no set procedure for this," Mosley said. "We can modify the RFP, or look into accepting one of the others submitted last time, but we haven't decided what steps we are going to take yet. What I can say is Delta is locked in for as long as it takes to find another carrier.
