Today in Northeast Michigan we give thanks. We give thanks for family, health, well-being - the list goes on depending on your situation. Despite the hurdles our country faces, we are blessed to live in the greatest country on earth.
As you sit down today and celebrate Thanksgiving, take a moment to remember those who are sacrificing their lives and time away from loved ones so we can enjoy the many freedoms we have. The men and women of our Armed Forces are on guard for our country every day of every week, protecting us and ensuring our way of life.
Remember the less fortunate, those who won't have a big dinner with family and friends. These are trying times for many in Northeast Michigan, and we wish them well. We have many in our community and hope for them a better tomorrow than the day they face this morning.
Northeast Michigan is a caring community and people unselfishly give, even when they are hurting themselves. It is one of the characteristics we admire in the spirit of Northeast Michigan - perhaps it is the great quality to admire, and there are plenty of things to love and admire about our area and its people.
Between the turkey dinner, the dessert and the football game, take some time to remember about how lucky we are to live in this country and everyone who makes this the great country we love.
Happy Thanksgiving. And one more thing - go Lions, stuff the Packers.
