ALPENA - Wynne and Steve Tezak celebrated National Adoption Day in Alpena by adding a new baby to their family. The Tezak's are the parents of Brogan Anthony Tezak.
On Friday afternoon Judge Thomas LaCross officially signed the adoption papers that finalized Brogan's adoption into the Tezak family.
LaCross said he had different thoughts running through his mind about the excitement that has been building up to the official adoption day.
"I'm very happy and joyful, but my happiness doesn't compare to the joy that all of these people in this room are feeling,"LaCross said.
The Tezaks celebrated the adoption with grandparents, cousins, close relatives and friends who were there to celebrate Brogan's adoption.
"We've had him since he was born, but it's nice to officially and legally make him part of our family," Wynne said.
After LaCross signed the order of adoption, the new family went up to the bench, giving LaCross a chance to hold Brogan, and give him a new stuffed animal.
"It almost felt like I was getting married again. It was so joyous and it was great having friends and family here," Steve said.
Doree Kent, the social worker who has been working with the Tezak's for a year on their adoption through Catholic Human Services, said this adoption was directly consented, which meant the birth parents chose the couple.
"It's a great day, we're here celebrating two families coming together," Kent said.
