Stoney Acres Winery has joined forces with the Zonta Club of Alpena to support breast cancer awareness with the launch of their limited-edition Think Pink wine.
Jim and Helen Grochowski, owners of the Stoney Acres Winery, along with their daughter, Amy Gagnon, have pledged $1,750 to the Zonta Club of Alpena for the Mammography Subsidy Fund at Alpena Regional Medical Center.
The winery has bottled a total of 120 bottles of Think Pink wine, an exotic fruit white Zinfandel, and it is available throughout the month of October at a cost of $20 per bottle. Stoney Acres Winery will donate the proceeds of $14.59 from each bottle sold to support Zonta and their cause.
Zonta Club of Alpena President Grace Marshall, Stoney Acres Winery Owner Helen Grochowski and Business Manager Amy Gagnon, and Zonta Walks for Women Chair Penny Boldrey celebrate the launch of a limited-edition Think Pink wine.
"We're thrilled that the Michigan Liquor Control Commission approved our request to donate proceeds from the sale of our new Think Pink wine to the Zonta Walks for Women breast cancer awareness fundraising event," said Stoney Acres Winery Business Manager Amy Gagnon. "I have personally benefited from the Mammography Subsidy Fund at the hospital and I know many women who have battled breast cancer."
The Mammography Subsidy Fund provides free mammograms to women who are uninsured or aren't eligible for Medicare of Medicaid. Since the inception of the Zonta Walks for Women event in 2007, a total of $74,000 has been donated to ARMC and used to enhance breast health services to women in Northeast Michigan.
Stoney Acres Winery is a boutique winery that opened in 1999 and is located at 4268 Truckey Road in Alpena.
