Tom and Carolyn Schultz, 31-year residents of Sedona, Ariz., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 29, 2011. They were married in Denver, Colo., in 1961.
Tom was born and raised in Alpena and graduated from Alpena Catholic Central High School in 1957. His parents, Frank and Aurella Schultz, lived on River Street for more than 60 years.
Tom and Carolyn met at the University of Wyoming in 1960. After eight years in Denver they moved to Rancho Bernardo, Calif. Tom was employed with Firestone as a comptroller for 24 retail stores in Southern California and later managed one of the largest truck tire stores in San Diego County.
Carolyn was manager of the world renown Golden Door Health Spa in Escondido, Calif. She entered the banking business in 1975, joining United California Bank as head of public relations for all of their branches in Southern California.
The couple left their fast paced careers in 1979 to move to Sedona where for the past 26 years they have worked as a team as broker and agent with Coldwell Banker First Affiliate, winning numerous national awards in recognition of their service and sales to their clients and friends.
Tom and Carolyn enjoy golf, hiking, playing the piano, fly fishing, tying flies and traveling extensively.
