Joscelyn Brown and Nicholas Talsma, both of Mt. Pleasant, announce their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of former Alpena residents, Alan and Sheryl Brown of Portage. The future groom is the son of Steven and Gina Talsma of Troy.

Joscelyn is a 2003 graduate of Alpena High School and a summa cum laude graduate of Central Michigan University in 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in communication disorders and psychology. She also graduated in 2009 from CMU with a Master's Degree in communication disorders. She is employed as a speech/language pathologist for Gratiot Isabella Regional Educational Service District in Ithaca.

Nicholas is a 2004 graduate of Avondale High School in Auburn Hills. In 2009, he graduated with honors from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor's Degree in information technology and computer science. He works as a legal IT software administrator for Dow Corning Corp. in Midland.

The couple will exchange their wedding vows July 2, 2011, in an outdoor ceremony at PohlCat Golf Course in Mt. Pleasant.
