Lauren Alyssa Brown and Benjamin Douglas Laur exchanged their wedding vows Aug. 14, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. Rev. Eric Woods of His House Christian Fellowship at Central Michigan University officiated at the 3:30 p.m. double-ring ceremony. Scripture readings were given by Rev. James D. Erickson of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alpena, uncle of the bride.
The bride is the daughter of Alan and Sheryl Brown of Portage, formerly of Alpena. The groom is the son of Douglas and Cindy Laur of Prudenville.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Joscelyn Brown. Bridesmaids were Gina Boscarino, Jodi Cornell, Kristin Hoyt, Dani Laur, all friends of the bride, and Julie Laur, sister of the groom. Attending the groom as his best man was his friend, Timothy Miller. Groomsmen were Benjamen Evers, Charles Hughes, Gordon Jensen, Erick Klassen, all friends of the groom, and David Laur, brother of the groom.
Following the ceremony, a reception in honor of the newlyweds was held at Centennial Hall in Mt. Pleasant. The couple honeymooned in Orlando, Fla.
Lauren is a 2005 graduate of Alpena High School and a summa cum laude graduate of Central Michigan University in 2010. She is a graduate teaching assistant at Bowling Green State University in Ohio where she teaches English and studies literature. Benjamin is a 2002 graduate of Houghton Lake High School and a 2010 graduate of CMU. He is also a graduate teaching assistant at Bowling Green State University, where he teaches voice and studies vocal performance.
The couple is making their home in Bowling Green, Ohio.
