HARRISVILLE East Shore Art Guild & Gallery Inc. in Harrisville is offering art classes for all levels of creativity. The classes are slated for Mondays, June 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Alcona EMS Building on M-72 in Lincoln.
Instructor is Barbara Wasserman, who will teach basic to advanced techniques used in pointillism for acrylics, pastels and oils.
Cost for the classes is $35. Participants are asked to bring their own art supplies or art supplies can be purchased for class during the above dates. The participants also are welcome to bring their lunch.
An East Shore Art Gallery committee meeting will be held June 14 at noon at the Alcona County Library branch in Harrisville. Immediately following at 1 p.m., the guild invites those interested to a discussion about the numerous art opportunities available to help spur creativity in and around Northeast Michigan. Everyone is welcome.
On June 16 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., an Acrylic Painting Class by Don Zwiesler is being offered at the Harbortown Marketplace on Main Street. He will take participants on a journey of painting techniques that he uses as a self-taught artist to create "a walk through a path in the woods."
Cost for this class is $30 and includes all art supplies. Bring a lunch.
On June 22, Gary McKinney also will teach a class from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Harbortown Marketplace. He will provide step-by-step instruction on a variety of art techniques, using any subject or medium that participants would like to explore as an aspiring artist. This is great class to take for beginners or as a refresher class.
Cost is $20. Bring your own art supplies and lunch.
The guild also is offering free Student Summer Art Workshops on Tuesdays, June 21 and 28, and July 5, 19 and 26 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Alcona County EMS Building.
These workshops are for students age 8 and up and are designed to help children explore their creativity in a variety of mediums and themes through age specific instructions by professional artists. All art supplies will be provided.
