Mary Emma Knape and John Thomas LaCross exchanged their wedding vows Aug. 7, 2010, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Traverse City. Fr. Joseph Graff officiated the 2 p.m. double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Stephen and Eileen Knape of Traverse City. The groom is son of Thomas and Mary Ann LaCross of Alpena.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Elizabeth Knape. Bridesmaids were Jillian Swan, Lindsay Bott and Lauren Cherluck, all friends of the bride, and Megan LaCross, sister-in-law of the couple. Attending the groom as best man was his brother, Larry LaCross.
Groomsmen were Matt LaCross, brother of the groom; Stephen Knape, brother of the bride; and Patrick Howard and Brad Zampich, friends of the groom. Ushers were Michael Knape and Andrew Montpetit.
Following the ceremony, a reception in honor of the newlyweds was held at the Great Wolf Lodge Ballroom in Traverse City. A rehearsal dinner took place at the Tuscan Bistro Restaurant in Traverse City.
Mary is a 2005 graduate of St. Francis High School in Traverse City, a 2009 graduate of Aquinas College with a bachelor's degree in biology and will graduate in 2012 from Oakland University with a doctorate in physical therapy.
John is a 2004 graduate of Alpena High School, a 2009 graduate of Aquinas College with a bachelor's degree in history and theology with secondary education. He is employed at Detroit Cristo Rey High School in southwest Detroit.
The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in Boston and New Hampshire. They are residing in Sterling Heights.
