TAWAS - Devin O'Neil scored 15 points and Ryan Wilk added 10 as Alpena beat Tawas 50-38 on Monday in a non-league boys basketball game.
Alpena (3-3) led 8-7 after one period and took a comfortable 24-17 lead into the half.
Chase Blackmore of Tawas led all scorers with 17 points, while Nick Schirmer had 12.
Alpena took the junior varsity game 65-44 behind Kristian Bell's 12 points. Jacob Benson added six steals.
Elisha Martin had 12 points and Andrew Marwede 10 as Alpena won the freshman game 50-42.
The Wildcats host Cheboygan today.
Au Gres 60, Alcona 46
AU GRES - Alcona relied too heavily on its outside shooting and Au Gres was able to benefit from that as the Wolverines defeated the Tigers 60-46 in boys basketball action on Monday.
Jared Steiner and Alex Cole each had 12 points for Alcona (4-2). Travis Byard had 18 for Au Gres, which used free throws in the fourth quarter to pull away in a game that was close throughout. The Wolverines held a 43-40 lead entering the final period.
Posen 61, Rogers City 18
ROGERS CITY-The Posen girls basketball team improved to 11-1 on the season with a 61-18 win over Rogers City on Monday.
Anna Couture led Posen (7-0 North Star League) with 15 points and Lindsey Bartz, Lindsay Ponik and Korynn Hincka all scored 10 points.
The Vikings dominated the Hurons from the opening tip, building a 19-5 lead after one quarter and a 38-5 lead at the half.
Becky Tulgestke led Rogers City with nine points.
Bev Bednarski led Posen's JV squad to a 33-32 win, scoring 15 points.
