Thy (Bernadette) Nguyen and Thomas Florip exchanged their wedding vows Aug. 28 at St. James Catholic Church in Woodbridge, N.J. Father Charles Cicerale officiated the 3 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of George and Mary Nguyen of Saratoga, Calif. The groom is the son of James and Ann Florip of Alpena.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was her cousin, Ann Le. Bridesmaids were Kristine Nguyen, sister of the bride, and Ruth Tsu, Jody Wrathall, Irene Lee and Arti Mattu, all friends of the bride. Attending the groom as best man was his friend, Jon Hall. Groomsmen were Daniel Florip and John Florip, brothers of the groom, and Matthew Wojda, Brian Morford and Adam Borchert, all friends of the groom.
Prior to the wedding mass, a traditional Vietnamese luncheon was held for the couple at the Edison, N.J. house of Nguyen and Kim Nguyen, uncle and aunt of the bride. Following the wedding mass, a reception in honor of the newlyweds was held at Shadowbrook Hall in Shrewsbury, N.J.
Bernadette is a 2003 graduate of Portage Central High School, a 2006 graduate of the University of Michigan and a 2010 graduate of the University of Notre Dame Law School. Bernadette will begin work in January as an attorney for the U.S. Department of the Navy at Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Md.
Tom is a 2001 graduate of Alpena High School, a 2005 graduate of the University of Michigan and a 2008 graduate of Ave Maria School of Law. Tom has been employed as an attorney at Naval Air Systems Command since 2008.
Tom and Bernadette honeymooned in northern Michigan and have made their home in Lexington Park, Md.
