Sarah Kae Donakowski and Timothy Grant Whiteside exchanged their wedding vows Oct. 9 at the Little Stone Church on Mackinac Island. Rev. Dr. Vincent Carroll officiated the 2 p.m. double-ring, candlelight ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Robert and Sue Donakowski of Alpena. The groom is the son of Ray Whiteside of Pensacola, Fla., and Becky Farrington of Pensacola, Fla.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was her cousin, Meghan Kae Murray. Serving as a bridesmaid was the bride's friend, Lyndsay Gibbs. The flower girl was Hannah Whiteside, niece of the groom. Attending the groom as best man was his brother, Jake Whiteside. Groomsmen were Bobby Wilson, Tristan Coffey and Josh Milletary, friends of the groom.
Following the ceremony, the couple took a wedding carriage ride on Mackinac Island. A reception in their honor was held at Lakeview Historic Hotel on Mackinac Island, where the rehearsal dinner also took place.
Sarah is a 2005 graduate of Alpena High School, a 2008 graduate of Alpena Community College with an Associate's Degree in Registered Nursing and a 2010 graduate of Lake Superior State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She is pursuing a Master's Degree in Nursing through Regis University and was employed as an RN in Sault Ste. Marie up until her wedding.
Timothy is a 2005 graduate of PACE High School in Florida and a 2008 graduate of the U.S. Navy Submarine School in Groton, Conn. He is employed as a submariner and stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on the U.S.S. Tucson.
The newlyweds are residing in Honolulu, Hawaii.
