Owen and Judy Whitkopf of Charlotte are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 6.
The Whitkopf family resided in Alpena from 1973 to 1979 and "absolutely loved living in Alpena and made many wonderful friends" during those years. Owen worked in two different positions for Alpena Community College in administration while Judy worked at the former DesChamps Clothing Store.
Owen and Judy were married Aug. 6, 1960, at First Methodist Church in Pontiac. They resided in Olivet, Alpena and then the past 31 years in Charlotte. Owen retired in 1999 from Airway Manufacturing Co. in Olivet where he was vice president of operations.
The couple has two daughters and son-in-laws, and five grandchildren with whom they will celebrate their anniversary: Mike and Lynette (Whitkopf) Pemble and grandchildren Caitlin Pemble, all of Okemos, and Brad Pemble of Grand Rapids; Don and Lori (Whitkopf) Hoholik and grandchildren Derek, Kim and Ashley Hoholik, all of Caledonia.
For their celebration, they will be attending a family reunion, then enjoy a vacation at Cedar Ridge Resort on Big Manistique Lake in the Upper Peninsula.
