Chris and Peggy Cowdin of Sturgeon Point, Harrisville, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with several surprise gatherings.
The first was at Wiltse's Restaurant in Oscoda with friends Chuck and Cass Miller who were celebrating their 61st wedding anniversary and with Chuck and Clairellen McLaughlin who were celebrating their 34th wedding anniversary. All were married on the same date, June 18. Chris and Peg were surprised with friends Stan and Janice Harris from Royal Oak and Andy and Betty Ann Killiany from Birmingham. They were later joined by Tom and Sharon O'Callaghan at The Widows Watch B & B in Harrisville. A great evening was had by all.
Secondly, Chris and Peg's children, Rita Votta, Julie Cowdin, Kristy Zajac and Bill Cowdin, surprised them with a gift of a long weekend trip to Hulbert Lodge in the Upper Peninsula where they love the country.
And thirdly, the following weekend, their son, Bill and daughter-in-law Mandy gave them a surprise family get-together at their home in Canton.
Mr. Cowdin and the former Peg Ellison were married June 18, 1960, at the Shrine of the Little Flower Catholic Church in Royal Oak by the Rev. W. D. Bracken.
