Jim and Joanna Coultes celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 19, 2009, with a group of friends from Solera, an adult community in Chandler, Ariz. An open house was held at their home on Torrey Pines Lane.
Then in February, their family including daughter Jill Wallis of Tempe, son Jay and wife Chris and adult granddaughters Allyson and Abby of Alpena, joined them in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico, for a week's celebration.
Jim and Joanna were married Dec. 19, 1959, in Lansing, while they were both students at Michigan State University. Both are retired teachers from Alpena High School.
