RC team wins vintage snowmobile race
A team riding a 1975 Polaris TX sponsored by Huron Auto Sales won the second annual Old Man's Iron 150 Vintage Snowmobile Race on Saturday. The race, sponsored by Lincoln Snow Sports, Inc. and Michigan Cat was held at the Lincoln ARA Site.
The race featured snowmobiles there were made in 1975 or earlier.
"There's a lot of good old sleds out there just sitting around and this give these guys a chance to bring them out, compete and just have a lot of fun, without spending a lot of money to do it," said Ken Manning of Lincoln Snow Sports. "The vintage machines have made a come-back in recent years and many organizations around the country have been having events that feature them."
While the weather was fairly cold early in the day, by mid-day the temperatures were in the 40s, creating a wet and soggy track. The race did go its scheduled 150 laps.
The drivers comprising the winning team were Todd Budnik, Wade Altman, Tom Spomer, Matt Angstuger and Scott Hein, all of Rogers City.
