For a decade now The Alpena News has been hosting Business Expo the first Saturday in February, and residents have come to look forward to the event as a nice way to break up the winter.
This year is no exception, and we hope to see many of you Saturday at the Thunder Bay Recreation Center from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Once again the popular Newspaper in Education Book Sale will take place in conjunction with the Expo. Tens of thousands of books will be available for purchase, with all the proceeds going to keep newspapers in several classrooms across Northeast Michigan.
Our school partner in gathering books this year was Besser School, where the students, faculty and parents rallied together and collected over 5,000 books alone for Saturday's sale.
New to the expo this year will be the opportunity to play a demonstration game of laser tag or, after visiting with all the vendors and making your book purchases, going next door to Northern Lights Arena to enjoy some of the Winterfest activities.
Finally, in a demonstration of new technology only available at The Alpena News' Web site, the Expo will be "live-streamed" from Thunder Bay Recreation Center to your computer via our Web site.
The "latest and greatest" will be on display Saturday at Business Expo. We hope you'll join us for another great event.
