RUDYARD - The Rogers City Hurons football season ended Friday night in Rudyard with a 32-6 loss in the opening round of the football playoffs.
Field conditions were awful at best with mud puddles dominating the playing field, but it did not slow down Rudyard's offense.
"We are a passing team and the weather doesn't matter. We're going to pass," said Rudyard head coach Pat Maloney.
Rudyard quarterback Davin Salo led the passing attack with three touchdown passes including a 70-yard touchdown with 1:29 left in the first quarter to put Rudyard up 14-0.
The Bulldogs wouldn't look back from there.
Rudyard scored again before halftime on a 2-yard touchdown run by Ben Gable. They scored again in each of the final two quarters to put the game out of reach.
Rogers City quarterback Pat Quaine finally broke loose in the fourth quarter for a 2-yard touchdown run as the Hurons (7-3) avoided the shutout.
"We didn't block very well at the line. Their defensive line beat our offensive line," said Rogers City head coach Mike Kosiara.
Rudyard will travel to Traverse City to take on Traverse City St. Francis on Friday.
