Another stoplight between the two we have there? We'll need an overpass just to get to town.

After the initial boost from construction jobs and store hiring, then what? There are only so many shopping dollars to be spent in the Alpena area. Meijer's will just cannibalize sales from Walmart and others. Eventually, you can say goodbye to a number of smaller stores like Perch's, Neiman's, Kmart, JC Penny, etc., and their employees. US-23 will be blighted with even more empty storefronts.

Thank you for bringing this great chain to our town. They offer variety that is not presently available in our area.I love Meijer's but am quite suspect about locating it in this area.Walmart must put in a back entrance off Bagley to help fix the traffic flow on M-32.
