This is about the Home Health Care Nurses, not the hospital floor nurses at this time. I am sure that the majority of the home patients would say that they received exemplary care. Why should a college educated, licensed professional get health care benefits if they are part-time? The reason they are part-time is because the hospital won't have to give them health benefits. They still work full-time and more hours, it is just a way to get around paying them what the senior hires have already negotiated. Another way employers have discovered to pocket more profits. The hospital is doing very well and like other corporations use creative bookkeeping to release the profit/loss info they want you to have, not the real picture. The relatively new CEO Bjella and his handpicked staff will never take a cut in pay or give up any benefits. Do they receive bonuses for the asset growth that is being released? What do you think?

Have worked in 2 different prof capacities around the country. Good Luck to MNA. The adm and board are incompetent at best. In my opinion, they use coercive management techniques to establish a pervasive atmosphere of disrespect and mistrust. The more qualified and educated, the more clinical expertise, the more potential for bullying, firing, being underpaid. Happily their attempts to curtail free speech have failed. Administration should decrease their own pay, discipline themselves for being nasty children. For those who care, CLINICAL employees here are actually UNDER compensated. We NEED good clinicians. USW union does not even fake an attempt to aid the employees who are paying them. You cannot have a hospital without clinically competent employees. But the CEO, HR VP, and cronies wouldn't be missed, neither would this board. Are they unaware their spiteful attitudes have breached the board room? Sad for this community. ARMC is unreasonable, business as usual.

The nurses have nothing to complain about, times are tough. Unless, of course, the hospital is not asking all other employees to take a similar percentage cut including top administration, surgeons and other doctors, housekeeping and HR. If that's the case, I hope the nurses can shut the place down.

Why should part time workers get healthcare at all? The don't in other occupations.

I'll never forget my 82 year old father having to go to the bathroom at ARMC. We buzzed and buzzed, finally he wet the bed. I went out to the nurses station. 5 nurses were there. One was on a cell phone, 2 were talking, 2 were reading magazines. Or the breathing treatment nurse who put the mask on my father, then disappeared. My father ripped the mask off, so I put it back on him and ensured he got a successful treatment. I have many more examples, way too many for 1000 characters.

So go on strike or do whatever you think you need to do. I think you can be easily replaced.
