After moving into new digs on the first floor of the Waterfront Building, TBAC devoted its existing wall space to an artist’s gallery. As such, for the past year, the organization has provided a new venue for area artists like Jean Fleming-Mazur and Kathryn M. Cubalo to display and sell their works. Most of those exhibiting there are already established and known locally, but they gain a little extra exposure with a presence in the TBAC gallery. Now TBAC is taking it one step further by showcasing and encouraging a young, budding artist. Zane Forintos of Alpena started fooling around with a camera while in grade school. He continued to learn about cameras and photography techniques, and to hone his skills. Currently 13 years old and in junior high school, he has a body of his photographs on exhibit in the gallery through Jan. 24. They’re fresh, they’re colorful and they show definite talent. It’s great to see such an investment in youth and TBAC’s continued commitment to promoting the arts! Make sure you stop by the gallery and check out this young photographer’s work. Office hours are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon.
