While visiting Alpena County Library earlier today for a photo/interview, I poked my head inside the special room that library staff has been prepping to house the Alpena History Collection. The room doesn’t officially open till some time next month, but my sneak peak made me really appreciate their efforts. When finished, the room will be gorgeous! Just installed were a series of beautiful oak bookcases made by an Amish craftsman at Treasures Forever, a business located along US-23, just before Omer. The look Director Judi Stillion and her staff have been going for is Mission/Craftsman, and they are succeeding royally. The appearance of the room will definitely be a testament to all the Alpena history preserved within and accessible to the public once the dedicated space opens. Since The Alpena News donated many old records and photographs for the history room, I am looking particularly forward to the day it officially opens. In the meantime, my sneak peak really kindled my interest today. I’m including a photo of a period light fixture installed to hopefully peak yours as well.
