Boxes, Boxes Everywhere.
June 2, 2014 - Steve Schulwitz
The move to Alpena is complete, well almost. After more than a dozen round trips between Rogers City and Alpena, a broken van, four sleepless nights on the floor, one back injury, three ticked off cats and a tired wife, we are settling into our new home. By settled I mean weaving between boxes in the middle of rooms that are yet to be emptied and searching through totes for necessities in life such as phone chargers.
To be honest I forgot how much work and stress moving is and I didn't realize how much there was to move. If I could do it all over again I would have thrown more away. We still managed to bring a lot of items that we really could do without and will have to haul again at some point in the future.
Everyone has been very supportive of the move and have helped in many different ways. My bosses have been tolerant with me taking days off and leaving early to prepare for and complete the move and my bandmates Mark and Dave worked tirelessly moving large items from the old house to the new. I owe you guys. My parents got is a lawn mower as a house warning gift and many people have reached out via social media to see if we need anything for our home. To all of you, I thank you.
So now life in Alpena begins anew for me and my family. When I left Alpena it was the best thing for me at the time and ultimately made me a better husband, father, employee and person overall.
Now it is time to share Alpena and what it has to offer with the family I built in Rogers City and hope they learn to love it the way I do. Expect to see us at many events and volunteering often for causes.
That is after we empty the boxes, bags, totes and put things in their proper places. so in a nutshell, we'll see everyone in a month.
