The London Games are finally here, with the opening ceremonies tonight (well, this afternoon here). And you already know how much I love the Olympics. In fact, I just watched the Dave Wottle 800 meter gold medal run in the 1972 Munich Games for the umpteenth time on YouTube.
Our "correspondent" in London, Margaret Mack has sent some news about getting ready for the Olympics broadcasts that will be in Saturday's edition of The News. As you might recall, Margaret, a 1974 graduate of Alpena High, is an Emmy winning on-air graphics specialist who has worked every Olympic Games since 1992 in Albertville, France. The London Games are here 11th.
To keep the good vibes rolling, here are a few more photos. A couple are of venues that show how close these Games are to historic sites and the city. And there's one of an 8-months pregnant archer to boot.
Cue the music.
