Pick a show, any show
February 6, 2008 - Diane Speer
As usual, there's lots going on this week in the way of arts activities, particularly when it comes to theater. Both Alpena High School and Alpena Community College have student productions scheduled.
Through a collaborative effort of the various arts discipline at ACC, students will present "Peter and the Wolf," a narrated musical story, on Feb. 8. The program also will include musical selections from the ACC Chamber Ensemble. Performance time is at 7:30 p.m. in ACC's Granum Theatre.
Alpena High School Masquers Club, under the direction of the very talented Karl Heidemann of Rogers City, is doing "Arsenic and Old Lace" Feb. 7-9 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. in the AHS Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students/seniors.
If that's not enough to keep you busy, you can always catch a remaining performnce of Thunder Bay Theatre's latest show, "Politics of Murder," that runs Feb. 7-9. Show time is at 7:30 p.m.
Taking advantage of some of these local offerings, at least for me, makes the winter go a little bit quicker. There's nothing like an entertaining show to help you forget that it's snowing outside for the umpteenth time this season.
