Gasping over gas prices

Six days ago The Alpena News editorial page contained a local editorial about gas prices being reasonable for the Memorial Day Weekend. The editorial also can be found at this website.

Forget the kind words of last week. Wednesday gas operators across the community raised prices 25 cents in one quick move. While operators last weekend had prices in Alpena being among the lowest in the state, and in fact, the country, not so anymore.

I understand the price of gas will fluctuate from week-to-week. What I don't understand is how it can swing so drastically with one move, rather than incremental adjustments.

If this area contained a cheers and jeers, the gas stations would be getting a big jeer today.
