Happy New Year

February 16, 2010 - Bill Speer
Happy New Year to you and yours. At least that's the way I feel these days after six intense weeks of crunching numbers, writing volumes of reports and worrying about a one-day event that would see thousands of people through the doors to visit.

For me anymore, the start of any year that I can actually claim as my own doesn't begin to mid-February. Until then, forget it - I'm buried up to my neck in paper.

My first deadline arrives Jan. 10, with two rather substantial analysis and reports due to my bosses. Three other reports follow suit by Jan. 31, including one that would make a good boat anchor except for the fact it is so important to our operation.

The last week of the month sees me out of the office each year for three days of meetings at the Michigan Press Association, then upon my return home the next weekend is Business Expo - an event attended by thousands of area residents annually.

The week after that I have two more reports due and, well you get my drift. Are you as tired reading this as I am writing and re-living it?

The good news life is back to normal and thus, the return of this blog to active status.

Did I mention that my wife last weekend had us begin a major overhaul of one of the bedrooms in our home? Oh well, what's another new job to tackle!
