Gone to the dogs

October 27, 2009 - Diane Speer
It's highly unlikely there are any dogs out there who read The Alpena News or check out our web site and this blog space, but if they did, they would find there is currently a call out for dog tryouts at Alpena Civic Theatre.

Yep, ACT has a special role in "The Mircale Worker" that can only be filled by an actor of the four-footed variety. Said dog must be willing to lie quietly on stage for a four-minute scene, respond well to young human actresses petting them, lick faces on cue, act "happy" on cue and permit their front paws to be handled.

So any humans out there reading this blog who have an Irish setter or similar sized sporting or herding dog are invited to bring them to the tryouts slated for Nov. 4 at 5:30 p.m. at the theatre, located on River Street.

"The Miracle Worker," to be directed in January by Jay Kettler, should be an outstanding production about the life of Helen Keller - even if ACT temporarily has gone to the dogs!
