A few good recipes
October 15, 2009 - Diane Speer
Just a little more than a week remains until the Oct. 24 deadline for submitting recipes for our Holiday Cookbook that is being published in mid-November. It is my job to round up recipes for this project, and every year, I worry that I won't receive enough submissions from the public. My fellow staff members then roll their eyes at me and remind me that, in the end, our readers always come through.
So, while I'm not in official panic mode yet, I still could use more recipes for this year's cookbook. If you are reading this blog, then feel free to dig out one of your family's favorites and send it to me here at the newspaper. You can either send directly to my email address at lifestyles@thealpenanews or use regular mail service at The Alpena News, Holiday Cookbook, 130 Park Place, Alpena, MI 49707.
One last cookbook-related mention. I received a nice note and a batch of yummy-sounding recipes today from June Sylvester who reminded me why this particular project is so worthwhile. "Thank you for furnishing different recipes for the holidays," June wrote. "I know I always look forward to the day it arrives in The News. I always keep the cookbooks from year to year. Many thanks for making the holidays special."
You can look forward to seeing June's recipes in our 2009 Holiday Cookbook. And yours too!
