Skubick to visit Alpena
May 4, 2009 - Bill Speer
The Alpena News is sponsoring Tim Skubick, one of my favorite political reporters, this month in a presentation at Alpena Community College May 19 at 7 p.m.
Skubick's knowledge and insight into the bureaucracy of state government should make for an interesting evening. Among the topics I expect he will tackle will be the realistic chances of Gov. Jennifer Granholm being appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court, the emerging field in next year's gubernatorial race and how the Michigan Legislature might lead the state out of its economic misery.
There is no admission for the evening, although we expect a sizeable crowd so you might want to arrive early to be guaranteed a seat.
Skubick's weekly political column currently appears in 24 Michigan newspapers. A reporter for 38 years, he anchors the weekly public TV series "Off the Record" and covers the capitol for WJBK-TV2 and WWJ NewsRadio 950 in Detroit.
