What a great day for an election.
Voters, or potential voters, certainly can’t use the weather as an excuse for not getting out and voting today. What a beautiful day. And it certainly showed that weather wasn’t a factor locally.
Though unscientific, I use my precinct and voting time as a guide as to what kind of a turnout we have locally. Even though it is not scientific by every stretch imaginable, it’s a pretty good measure nonetheless. Today I was No. 580 at 9:15 a.m., which is much higher than normal.
I checked with my mother, who votes at a different precinct, and she said they had good numbers; my buddy Butch said his precinct also was high right from the get-go.
I chatted with one of the precinct workers while waiting in line and she said it had been pretty busy all morning. She said the rush at 7 a.m. was incredible.
Take your hats off Alpena, it looks like your are turning out en masse. Now that’s the definition of “Decisions are made by those who show up.”
