Fact or fiction

May 5, 2008 - Steve Murch
Global warming is a fact; global warming is a figment of someone’s imagination. Are you tired of the argument whether global warming is fact or fiction?

Whether it is or isn’t, don’t we owe it to ourselves, and those who will follow, to do our part to ensure we don’t destroy the earth? Even if global warming is a fallacy?

I often wonder if the people who argue, a bit too vociferously, are arguing the point to allow them to continue throwing their hamburger wrappers out the window of their cars, not watch what they put in the landfills, and generally waste resources. Sometimes they seem to argue too long and never say anything about clean air, water or soil.

The same can go for the people who go over the top on being green. You can’t use ANY plastic, you have to recycle ALL of your paper products and you should reuse the bath water 15 times before dumping it.

Well, there has to be a happy medium for the extremists. Doesn’t there? If we could get the people who don’t care at all to just take more care with their refuse and the ga-ga green team to admit that sometimes a plastic bag isn’t the end of the world, then maybe we could make better headway in general.

After all, isn’t better to be safe than sorry?
