Time well spent
January 10, 2008 - Diane Speer
My evening spent yesterday viewing Alpena Civic Theatre's new production of "Painting Churches," which officially opens today for a two-week run, was definitely time well spent. I was a little worried beforehand that the subject matter might make the show a little depressing, but I came away feeling that I'd just seen a very real portrayal of family relationships and growing older, and just as importantly, that there was more than enough humor mixed in to keep it balanced. You can read my official review in tomorrow's newspaper and up on our web site...once I get it written, that is.
In the meantime, prayers go out to Marion Brown, costumer extraordinaire, as she battles ill health. Her wizardry with fabric has been such an intregal part of theater productions for so many years. It has always been a visual treat to see what she has done with costumes for every show. The entire ACT family is saddened by her current struggles.
