Tell Congress we don’t need this tax reform

Advent is here and we prepare for the coming of Christ. In holy scripture we are told, “Beware. Keep awake. Keep alert.” Indeed, we need to pay close attention to what is happening in this country and in the world, in particular to what is happening in Congress with tax reform. Our president and our representatives are not being honest with us. The working class, lower middle class, and retirees — most of the people who live in our area — are already struggling financially to get by, and this tax bill will make it worse. Many such folks will lose their health insurance, and most of us will end up paying more, not less, taxes. The few people here who will actually get a small tax cut will lose it in five years. And the vulnerable poor, those with incomes of $10,000 or less, will get hurt the most.

This is wrong. This is actually evil. Many of our representatives and senators insist that they need to do this for the good of the country, not for their own good and that of the wealthy donors. They think we can’t figure out their true motives, while they lead the silent sheep in their districts out to slaughter.

Wake up. Tell Congress not to pass this terrible bill. Be the voice in the wilderness crying. Bring hope. Republican or Democrat, it doesn’t matter. For God’s sake, put country over party and tell Congress to do the same.
