Submit your recipes for the News’ cookbook

A reader favorite is returning back to The Alpena News in December.

At that time home subscribers will enjoy “A Taste of Northeast Michigan” — the first cookbook that newspaper staff have tackled in three years.

Supervised by Lifestyles Editor Diane Speer, again this year the newspaper is soliciting favorite recipes from our readers to include in this year’s edition.

“This has always been one of our readers’ favorite projects, and they love it when we bring it back,” Advertising Manager Christie Werda said. “Our advertisers also are always excited to be able to participate in this great project.”

Readers have until Nov. 13 to get their recipes into the hands of Speer. After collecting them, she will then organize and categorize them into a format that will be enjoyed by all. Anything from your favorite zucchini recipe to that delicious apple crumb dessert is welcome. We want to know what YOUR best recipes are so they can be shared for all of us to enjoy. Maybe you are great at making Mackinac fudge — we want the recipe. Do you have a special rub for that venison steak that you’ve perfected over the years? Share it with us so we can share it with everyone.

The recipes can be sent to us in any format, although a digital copy is a little easier from a production standpoint. Email submissions to: lifestyles@thealpenanews.com. Please include your name and city where you reside, and a phone number in case any clarifications are needed.

Printed or handwritten copies of recipes also may be mailed to us at: The Alpena News, Attn: Diane Speer, Lifestyles Editor, 130 Park Place, Alpena, MI 49707.

Don’t delay. This is a project we all benefit from.
