Let us all believe what we believe, be better
A response: Marlin Goebel as a minister and because of your quiet strength you displayed as one of my favorite teachers, I imagine your “flock” holds you in high esteem. Mr. Greene, your gift of poetry is commendable and as a believer your letter begs a response. Two things I won’t do. Number 1, shaming another for doing right or wrong. That’s not God’s way. Our culture is in need of a conviction from deep within of a personal love of God. Calling an act a sin is one thing, shaming another is attacking the creature of “Love” and only leads to greater indifference. Secondly, I won’t apologize for my Faith. I’m Catholic, trying to be a better Christian. St. Mother Teresa says, “If you’re a Muslim, be a better Muslim. If a Buddist, a better Buddist. If Catholic, a better Catholic.” “But if anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father-Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.” 1 John 2:1. I don’t expect others to apologize for what they believe. Nor will I for my beliefs. FYI; A “Catholic Apologist” is someone who explains our Faith.
Through all my trials, hardships, and “backlashes” I’m far better off now than when I didn’t know what to believe. Also, I think women want men to be men. I think the same is true for men. I have one of the best I’ve known. Rather than continuing this debate, can I challenge you on the longest and most difficult journey of our lives, from the head to the heart? God bless you in your struggles.
