Don’t approve HUNT millage in Alcona Co
It’s time to disband HUNT. Our county commissioners want you to pay $100,000 in new taxes going to Alpena to support a narcotics task force that already has a $900,000 budget. HUNT brags that over its 25 year life it has seized $9 million in illegal drugs (about 90 percent was marijuana). What they don’t say is they spent about $20 million in tax dollars during the same time period. In the private sector they would be fired for incompetence. Instead of taxing us for another $100,000 a year, why not take the $600,000 the Michigan State Police gives HUNT and divide it among the four counties supposedly serve by HUNT? I’m confident that Alcona County law enforcement could use another $150,000 a year and would use it ore effectively than HUNT. So vote no against another $100,000 in taxes leaving our county and tell our county commissioners to get the $150,000 from the Michigan State Police to support our local police. It’s time to disband HUNT.
