Keep Mich-e-ke-wis, don’t add roundabouts

Mich-e-ke-wis is a great beach. It’s big and it’s the only beach property left. We don’t need an RV park there. We have one just south of town on US-23 South and we have RV parking at the fairgrounds. And we don’t need a motel there either. Let’s make it a nice beach for everyone to enjoy. Local and visitors would all be able to us it. It has a lot of parking, good place to picnic, fly kites, a great place for kids to play. A nice place for a walk, play volleyball. A lot of people go there now. Could even have a dog run. It’s a big beach, a beautiful place. People in Alpena don’t have a lot of money to spend so the beach is a nice place to go and it’s free. Sure we have two other beaches but the parking isn’t that great and they are a lot smaller. So keep it nice for everyone. Take the weeds and rocks out. Bring in some white sand and make it like it used to be. Also, Alpena doesn’t need roundabouts The traffic lights are working good. If there is that kind of money, put it on the roads and paint the lines. Do you know roundabouts don’t have stop signs, just yield signs. A lot of people don’t pay attention to them. They just whiz through them. The road goes from a four-lane to a two-lane and the speed limit is 20 mph. In Acme by the new Meijer store they have had their share of accidents. People there don’t like them either. Think before you make roundabouts.
